The COVID-19 pandemic has forever changed the paradigm of work. While many people lose several hours in commuting between their home and office, always having to live in areas close to it, telecommuting has enabled people to explore the world while working on a laptop computer with internet access. As attractive as a life free of obligations and with more flexibility in finding a place to live can be, digital nomads bring enormous problems to the local host communities, such as increased pressure on natural resources and services, increased housing prices due to higher wages as a rule, and, as a result, a widening social gap. In order to make community life fairer, and to avoid abuses in taxation, this proposal was created: Article 1 Definition of Fiscal Residence 1 - Establish clear criteria for determining the tax residence of digital nomads, considering factors such as length of stay in the country, family ties and permanent residence. 2 - Consider as eligible for tax purposes all those who stay for a period equal to or longer than 32 consecutive days. Article 2 Taxation Rules for Digital Nomads 1 - All citizens in who are considered digital nomads and who fit the criteria of article 1 may choose for one of two regimes: a) payment of taxes in the country of residence like national citizens b) Paying user regime. In this regime the citizen is charged for the public service she uses. Article 3 Collaboration Between Countries 1 - Promote international cooperation for sharing information on taxation of digital nomads. Article 4 Awareness and Education 1 - Conducting awareness campaigns aimed at informing digital nomads about their tax obligations in their country of residence and helping them understand tax regulations and processes. Article 5 Enforcement and Penalties 1 - Strengthen enforcement of digital nomads' tax obligations through audits, states and cooperation with businesses. 2 - Establish penalties at the European level for those who do not comply with their tax obligations.

Several studies and economists warn that our current economic thinking is unable to find a solution in our terrible situation. The constant will for economic growth destroys the environment (Potsdam Institute for Climate Research, 2022) and sustainable economic growth is also not possible, as several studies show (European Environmental Bureau 2019) - also confirmed by the rebound effect. For a long time, the well-being of the population has been decoupled from economic growth (Australian National University, Kubiszewski et al, 2013) as opposed to the environment. Thus, it would be the task of the EU to be a pioneer of a new type of economic policy with real influence. Comprehensive reforms are needed to achieve this, but this is the only way to counter climate change.

Abortion is one of the biggest human rights violations in Europe and in the history. Abortion is in contrary to EU charter of fundamental rights Article 2. Every unborn and born deserves protection of the right to life. We must end abortion in order to respect human rights and Article 2.  The United States had a huge victory when Roe V Wade was overturned. Europe will follow the same path and give a voice to the voiceless. We the youth, we will never stop fighting until every unborn enjoys the right to life. We are the pro-life generation!

Today at a workshop at the EYE, speakers mentioned different issues with the election – low number of voting participants, especially young people, disinformation, lack of understanding of complex legislation process in EU, risk for autocratic systems. David van Reybrouck wrote a book, "Against Elections", where he proposed deliberative democracy. One of his ideas is to form temporary commissions consisting of EU citizens instead of politicians. Such commission can represent people with different background and perspectives. Shouldn’t EU institutions adapt such deliberative democracy and be more open in legislative processes to give power to citizens themselves?

ReRoot Project is a small organisation that is just being set up to support unforeseen communities studied in camps with permaculture education, resources for regenerative agriculture and nature based therapy. It supports their short term physical needs as well as long term integration, mental and physical well-being. I just started this project and need support!

It is extremely important to have an (optional) final examination at the end of high school, such as the SATs, so that young people in Europe have equal chances of getting into universities within the EU. Comparing the grades of a German citizen with those of an Austrian, for example, is not possible due to the vast differences in education and grading systems. However, for some study programs, one may need to go abroad. It is also crucial for young adults to explore new countries and cultures, which should be in line with the goals of the EU. The fact that studying within the EU is already fee-free is working exceptionally well.

We need a European constitution for childrens' rights. In the social systems of the European countries there must be a guaranteed minimum pension for children, so no children suffers from poverty. In the educational institutions the democratic values must be teached and lived.

We have a lot of data with the benefits of having a person with diagnoses as a worker. To have a job is a huge thing for every person, but especially for a person who is facing some diagnosis. 2024 is a crucial year in terms of improve the level of education, to improve the situation with the awareness about diseases, in this case, multiple sclerosis. Are there projects already on this topic? Yes, but I want to see a project on an EU level where each country can benefit from the project, to have the same awareness level and knowledge as in Belgium and Croatia. Some improvements have already been made, but there is a need for more, where people with chronic illnesses can advocate for our disease and our needs.

A large share of young people see themselves forced to work for free in their first professional experiences. Sometimes, unpaid internships are the first opportunities we embark on to start gaining experience. While internships are useful to acquire experience in our first steps, being an unpaid trainee should be forbidden across the EU. Only those who can afford to work for free (due to family support or larger economic capacity) will be able to access those professional opportunities, fostering inequality and social injustice. Therefore, in order to guarantee equality of opportunity and protect youth rights, all unpaid internships should be banned.

To effectively address and combat racial incidents in schools, it is crucial to establish a monitoring system to track school performance in relation to tackling such incidents. The following recommendation is proposed: Implementation of a Racial Incident Monitoring System in Schools: Educational authorities should develop and implement a standardized racial incident monitoring system in schools across Europe. This system should include comprehensive data collection and analysis mechanisms to track and document incidents of racial discrimination, harassment, bullying, and violence within educational settings. The monitoring system should capture both the frequency and nature of racial incidents, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information is available. By implementing a robust racial incident monitoring system, educational authorities can gain valuable insights into the prevalence of racial incidents and work towards preventing such incidents in schools, and put in place measures to further help Students and Teachers. This proactive approach will make sure that victims of racism/discrimination, are "heard" and that action will be taken, as research suggests that the majority of students don't report racist incidents due to a lack of action from schools. Additionally, this initiative will help identify areas of improvement, inform evidence-based policies, and foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and equality within educational institutions.

Incorporating Abolition Day into school curricula in Europe will contribute to building inclusive societies that acknowledge historical injustices, challenge systemic discrimination, and work towards a more equitable future. Slavery Abolition Week lessons would adopt a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating various subjects such as history, literature, art, and social sciences. By exploring the topic from different perspectives, students can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the complex historical, social, economic, and cultural aspects associated with slavery and its abolition.

EU’s Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 Needs Reform   The suggestion of the strategy that 50:50 quotas are necessary to combat gender inequality since leadership positions must represent the demographic of the population is one which I find grossly undermining of our roles as individuals in society. It makes me question the perception of the intentions of men by the European Parliament itself. How can I confidently navigate the world as a woman when the strategies used to fight gender inequality only address surface-level outputs of misogyny and further propagate inequality?  It is my firm belief that there is a need for changing the approach to fighting gender inequality. Rather than focusing on artificially creating diversity in management and leadership positions, it is necessary to divert our attention to developing a strategy where gender equality is pursued on an individual basis rather than a legislative one. Equality of opportunity should be valued higher than equality of results, and ultimately the delegation of leadership and management positions should be based on merit and never gender. 

The ‘SDGs’ allow projects to be launched in relation to the different themes they represent. They enable institutions and citizens to better understand who is being addressed and for what purpose, for example, a law is adopted.

Transparency is an important facet of democracy, and we citizens deserve to understand what's going on and develop our own alternatives. For example, in Sweden there is a software called BankID that is used as an electronic ID card, but it is proprietary and only available on Apple, Microsoft, and Google's operating systems. This enforces their already strong oligopoly and hurts citizens who aren't conforming. An open source ID system could be ported by volunteers to any platform.

We should provide free Interrail passes to every young European upon turning 18. This would give them the possibility to experience Europe and European travel, themselves. It would extend the opportunity to disadvantaged young people who cannot afford to travel abroad.

Many young people are given space to develop in their family and schools, but this is not always the case. Young people also want a place where they can experience some independence. 

Young people need the opportunity to interact with each other and to be able to make direct changes to their environment, in sync with their vision for a better future and more importantly a peaceful future.

Different elements are important here. First, spaces refer to places where people can meet and interact with other peers. Second, for some young people this call for more youth spaces is also related to issues of safety and care, to have more youth spaces in Eastern Europe, and some of them to be open 24/7 if needed. For others, however, youth spaces are more linked to issues of creativity, political engagement, and empowerment.

With hate speech, low self-esteem, and misinformation circulating online, teenagers and adults must be aware of the risks online and ensure they can accept the risks before going online. Children and young people should be aware of how excessive screen time seriously impacts their psychological and emotional well-being. The solution to it could be:

• to create an evidence-based awareness campaign
• to introduce mandatory lessons within the school curriculum to raise awareness about screen time
• to enhance security of online activities: we need more verification when users create social media accounts to avoid lies about identity and age. All accounts creators should go through extensive checks. Even if the process is long and annoying, it comes down to protecting lives
• to limit the practice of online gaming. Video game apps should create a system where children under 13 years old have a limited online game by verification of age

Every citizen should be guaranteed a minimum level of healthcare, regardless of income or EU passport. We need to guarantee:

• fair and standardised pricing for drugs across Europe
• equal access to innovative treatments and life-saving drugs
• similar waiting times for operations and procedures
• equal and fair COVID-19 follow-up care, for everyone who contracted the disease

It has been a year of turmoil for our healthcare systems amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Wouldn't it be a great source of resilience to hold EU Member States to a certain standard of healthcare and help to fund this throughout the region in the case of future virus outbreaks? The EU needs a universal healthcare system with a shared budget, to which all Member States contribute. This budget should service equal wages for healthcare workers and an equal level of care for all European citizens.

Critical thinking should be taught since first grade. This, in addition to news literacy skills, would help our union progress, and limit the illiberal and unscientific biases, such as anti-vax, conspiracy theories, and the sort.

• Liberal Arts, theatre productions, music programs, immersive art productions, Model UN projects and such in middle and high school classrooms will help propel our citizens to a much more inclusive and progressive generation.
• We could start with more training for national institutions, and continue with EU-level programs and competitions, including Eurovision-style broadcasts for Model UN - or “Model-EU”

Europe needs research on its own future, but researchers need funding. Therefore, the EU should fund them by for example directing money to universities and research centres that work on EU-focused projects.

Such projects should focus on cooperation mechanisms for EU institutions and on enhancing European policies. Financial cooperation, the future of the European Monetary Union and migration policies should also be among the topics.

Instead of focusing on the human impact on climate change, we should promote the idea of human flourishing: This means to use the energy sources that are most beneficial to us in each moment and stop blaming people for the destruction of our planet. Human impact on the environment should not be seen as either moral or immoral, because it is after all inevitable. We should take care of the planet while also taking into consideration our own happiness and prosperity.

We need more education about human rights in medicine: there are too many health professionals who refuse to care about LGBT+ patients and violate the rights of women in the postnatal period with malpractices such as the 'husband stitch', a medically unnecessary extra stitch after birth. In addition, a significant number of health practitioners still refuse the right to abortion or contraceptives. 

The European Council should be reformed in order to become a better European institution and contribute to a better-functioning European Union.

Ways to do so could include:

• The European Council should be merged with the Council of the European Union into one council that is equated with the Parliament when it comes to lawmaking competence. This includes the right of initiative to propose new legislation.
• It should consist of representatives from the national governments.
• It should operate with a qualified majority on all policy fields including the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), which means that 55 % of the member states need to vote in favor, these member states should then represent 55 % of the European population.
• The blocking minority (at least four member states representing more than 35 % of the EU population) should be abolished, while keeping the Ioannina Compromise.
• The European Council should select one chairperson for a 5-year-period, who will lead the meetings and take care of the symbolic, ceremonial and diplomatic tasks of a state leader.
• It should increase its transparency. Generally, all its meetings including those not concerned with legislation as well as those of its subordinate bodies (preparatory bodies and Coreper) must be public and live-streamed.

Chronic disease makes young people extremely vulnerable and COVID-19 has exacerbated the problem, through disrupted access to healthcare, extreme caution around vaccination and unstructured information. Europe has great research potential to advance knowledge on chronic diseases. Revolutionary medical advances need more European investment, cooperation and integrated healthcare systems that can use research to begin clinical trials.

We should:

• Establish European Centres of Excellence for specific diseases.
• Develop EU patient registries for challenging diseases, especially respiratory diseases that make patients vulnerable to severe illness from COVID-19.

The EU has to ban the entry of trophy imports for animal species classified as vulnerable or threatened (Annex A and Annex B). These animals are systematically killed for exhibitions in an activity that provides no scientific value. The hunting of these species disrupts the genetic pool and natural cycles in European ecosystems. It also doesn't contribute to the development of the local communities where the activity takes place because profits are usually spent elsewhere.

There is a need for pan-European initiatives that brings European people together in spirit and friendship. For example, each student could be assigned a Virtual European Friend (VEF) from another EU country with whom they can communicate virtually.

The European Parliament should focus more on promoting diversity in our society. We need more education and awareness on how to accept people with different backgrounds and opinions from our own.

Traditional, local based agriculture relies on ancient practices that are currently being substituted by a modern technology-based approach. However, these indigenous techniques are often less harmful to the environment. This is why it is important that all EU Member States focus on preserving and systematically recording this knowledge, as well as passing it on to younger generations.

These initiatives should connect rural farmers with young "agripreneurs", university students and volunteers. In this way, the new generation will be able to couple with indigenous communities and learn about sustainable farming practices. This will also help farmers engage with businesses and transform their day-to-day protocols into a commercially viable enterprise.

Additionally, farmers should be taught about EU biodiversity policies.

There is still a big gap between male activists and female activists in environmental issues, though our sometimes old fashioned mindsets prevent us from noticing said misbalance. It is important to enhance women's influence on the protection of the planet, as well as to create deeper understanding on how females approach the challenge of a sustainable future.

Make it easier for young Europeans to meet, create and innovate: we need a platform to search for upcoming European youth initiatives by association, social enterprise, and project. This would allow young Europeans to find joint project holders in different countries and be able to exchange cultures, problems and solutions for a better Europe.
