EUmanizing Economy: an economy that works for people

In some EU countries there is a deeply profound social crisis regarding the way our dignity as human beings is constantly at risk: the majority of people are just allowed to survive (housing and nutrition), instead of being able to live. What is most shocking about this vegetative state imposed on so many hard young workers is that this is mainly a matter of political will to change the way economy works. In the EU, no one should expect less than an economy that works for people. To live, as humans, should not be a privilege, but the basic realisation of our humanity. It is not acceptable that we still mainly look to GDP and other similar criteria to assert economies performance as if that autonomously brings quality of life. The idea, to foster and sensibilize to this urgent issue, is to create an EU data platform just focused on highlighting how the old model of capitalism is potentially less profitable than the new emerging sustainable capitalism. Profits can and should increase through SDG’s as well as people’s quality of life. Capital is very likely to be the solution, it just needs adaptions. There are three capital variables on this equation on each member state that would appear boldly in the platform (“ EUmanizing Economy”) to understand the effort rate felt by many: 1) salaries, 2) housing and 3) nutrition costs. By simply exposing this information per member state on that platform, one could much easier understand and share the gravity that has been around and shows no signs of getting less severe.
