Create a deposit system for milk cartons and bottles

If we can deposit soda cans, we should also be able to deposit milk cartons for a greener future.

It should be possible to deposit cartons and bottles for products such as milk and yoghurt for sustainability purposes.

Agree with the idea. In fact this strategy is not new and was used previously by our ancestors but the so called modernization replaced this model with plastic packaging. I remember when I used to buy the soft drinks for 1 liter, it came in a glass bottle, and at the time of purchase vendor took some extra bucks for the cost of that glass bottle and when we return it to vendor they return the pennies.

Szymanska Rondeau  • 26 October 2023

I don't think the problem is collecting plastic waste but knowing how to recycle this waste. In fact, only 40% of plastic waste has been recycled.

Make sports more inclusive

Invest in sports, create ways to make sure people with disabilities don’t get excluded. Create scholarships for elite athletes that are enrolled in university, make sure people know that you can pursue a double career (sports and study) and give them the opportunity to do so (tutors and online registration helps). Make sure that sports is not seem as something that takes time away but something useful for people’s well-being

EU Digital language exchange for all

It is not easy for everyone to travel to another country to practise a language there, and many private digital offers are not genuine and safe, especially for young people. Therefore, there should be a digital exchange organised by the EU that is safe and accessible to all.

More funding of night trains to make it more attractive than short haul flights

The EU should increase their  fund and support for night trains to make it more affordable and safe.

In order to reduce emissions in the transport sector, it should be more attractive to take the train (e.g. night train) in Europe instead of taking short haul flights. Increased funding and support from the EU could make night trains more affordable and safe – and then more people might use them instead of flying.

Urgent revision of educational plans

It is important to revise the educational plans in order to: 1- Not be so long so that students can focus more in certain topics (when programs are long, teachers sped up and students don’t have the time to learn as well); 2- Teach young people about practical issues: how to do taxes, how to understand politics (giving them a resume about different parties and their values and ideas), how to write a CV, how the professionals market work and tips to job interviews.

Today most of the student don’t know what are they going to do in the futur, don’t know existing jobs. Even for the nation this is an issue, we should introduce them in early phase about the futur jobs, field where we need people! To progress well and sustainably we need more people in theses fields. Let them participate earlier to university, create workshop in uni, create traineeships for different jobs which are not popular and seems not attractive but it is the futur. We need to accompany them into this step and create a bright futur for our student which means bright nation

National EYEs should be celebrated as well to foster youth participation!

It would be interesting to have a type of EYE experience but at a national level. For example, having meetings, activities, plenaries with national politicians and activists at the National Assembly in order to get youth closer to politicians, to get to know them and create a space where everyone speaks up and shares ideas about national politics.

More flexibility for students suffering from chronic diseases!

It is important to let tutors and teachers have more discretion in rules that students have to follow, but are almost always discriminating to people with disabilities. For example, I have been chronically ill for 6 years, so to adhere to attendance rules is very difficult. Even when I’m a good student and do what I need to do, I still fail classes due to these inconveniences that apply for all.  Less attendance, however, will not impact the meaning of my degree in University. Disabilities are not always visible or known. Chronic illness is also a disability so please let them have more rights instead of having to beg for another chance or whatever. Being ill takes enough time as it is.

Safe migration routes

If we talk about establishing safe migration routes, we mostly focus on economic migrations and possibilities to absorb migrants effectively into the labour market with measurements such as the European Blue Card. But we have to keep in mind that many people leave for individual or collective safety reasons. We could introduce a form of asylum procedure that examines the rights and needs of people in conflict regions before they start their escape. Because if their application for asylum is successful or they are allowed to be protected subsidiarily the European Union could organise systematic and safe transfer services for those in need. Conflictual situations at EU borders would be prevented without violating human rights either directly by installing camps or indirectly by outsourcing pullbacks in the Mediterranean to the Libyan coast guard.

More international cooperation

The EU should work closely with organisations such as ASEAN, Mercosur, African Union, in order to promote the model of the EU abroad. By cooperating with these organisations of regional cooperation, the EU can promote human rights, business, the European way of life, etc. This would give the EU and its allies a new voice that can be independent from the USA or China but not against them. Such new found influence would be based on cooperation between countries represented by its organisations.

In my opinion, people should learn "democracy" more deeply... Because we don't know the definiton of "democracy". Democracy not only depends on the goverment, it depends on people's ethics too, people should be more respectful and more empathize with each other... Because the life of a country also depends on its people... So we should learn more about democracy and apply it properly.

Create a climate neutral rail link between Brussels and Strasbourg

The European Parliament should be responsible for creating a more environmentally friendly link between Brussels and Strasbourg.

Due to an outdated compromise, most of the MEPs and a lot of European Parliament staff still travel each month from Brussels to Strasbourg, adding avoidable CO2 to an already dying planet. It is unlikely that this environmentally unfriendly practice will change anytime soon due to the veto of France. However, to at least minimize the impact of this practice, the EU must ensure a frequent, fast, and most importantly climate neutral rail link between Brussels and Strasbourg.

A monthly fund for all students in the EU

In Sweden all students at high school get a monthly fund of about a 125€. The fund is a good way to motivate students since they lose the fund if they don’t participate in school. This will also give students a higher understanding of money and finances. The fund will help students prioritise their education since they won’t need to have a job on the side. Making school more equal for all students despite socioeconomic differences.

CLASSROOM AS A SAFE SPACE (weekly mutual respect and inter-religious time)

It is undeniable that in a diverse context like Europe, differences can be perceived as both opportunities and threats. The case often takes place on a personal level especially to young people coming from different backgrounds, religions, and countries. Therefore, it is highly important to tackle the issue starting from the teachers and educators.  My idea would be to have an inter-religious and mutual respect time on a weekly/monthly basis for the teachers to be trained and transfer the skills to their students.

Investment in the regulation and creation of a moratorium for lithium mining industry.

My idea consists on the creation of European environmental and social standards that protect local communities. I bring up the case of Barroso region, in Portugal’s agriculture heritage site, declared by UNESCO which is under present threat of being exploited with a mining project which will affect water quality , displace and reduce drastically the quality of soil and the current sustainable practices which are already an ancestral and winning solution for climate change and sustainable food systems, with the agrosilvopastoral systems. We must beware of the acceleration of the green new deal in Europe, which might be a facade for a substitution of the individual automobile industry from fossil to a short term solution as lithium. We must not, in sake of the “green transition “ create sacrificial zones. Don't rule out mobility opportunities for young people in Hungary

As a member organization of the European Union, Hungary is also eligible to participate in Erasmus+ mobility programs, allowing not only Hungarian youth and educators to gain valuable experiences and professional expertise abroad, but also enabling thousands of students from all over the world to visit Hungary, get to know our country and study here. The total number of higher education students in Hungary were 294.000 in the 2021/22 academic year, 37.000 were foreign students. As a result of the measures, 182.000 students, including 30.000 foreigners, 62% of the students in Hungary, will lose the opportunity to gain international experience and many thousands young people from other Member States could lose the chance to study in Hungary through Erasmus+ at these universities. We urge the European Commission not to let young people become victims of the debate between the European Union and a member state government. We call on your political leadership to prevent student harm, therefore, it is important that in the future, decisions taken by the European Union institutions should not have a negative impact on young people, and that measures already adopted and in force should be amended without delay.

Allow more people to participate in multiple volunteering programmes

A volunteering programme should not just be a once in a lifetime experience.

Volunteering is an incredible program created by the EU, which lets young people from different countries abroad and learn more about what they want to become or other subjects they are interested. The main issue with this program is that they are a one time opportunity. I believe that volunteering should be supported more by the EU. People who have finished a long term volunteering participate in a new one, dividing the actual volunteering proposals for a first time volunteer and an experienced volunteer. This way people will talk more about this program and present it to young people to know about it.

A functional immigration system which respects human rights

"A functional integration and immigration system with a distribution key that benefits both immigrants and EU citizens whilst upholding Human Rights" Immigration of people coming into Europe through inter alia Italy, Spain, Greece, can only be kept up if: 1) the people immigrating into Europe have a chance of fair integration, and 2) resources are allocated to a specific number and to all MS with an equal and just distribution system. First, Integration and immigrants into the EU: Integration can only work if there is the infrastructure; a clear plan and precise allocated resources. In order to give a fair chance to every immigrant to integrate into the respective society; in order for a broad offer of Erasmus programs being possible and not cut off, the numbers need to be capped for each quartal / half year or year depending on what statistics provide: how long does an individual need to integrate into the respective MS?   Second, there must be an EU wide distribution key. The rationale is straightforward: There must be more solidarity within the Union and a burden-sharing element. A fair distribution key which inter alia takes the economic capacity, the population size and the absorption capacity into consideration should be implemented by the Commission together with the Council. This would prevent over-burdening certain MS (e.g., Sweden and Germany) and, hopefully, reduce the rising lack of acceptance for taking in further migrants.  Everyone, I invite you to come to the workshop tomorrow concerning this matter and to shape the EU policy in this arena anew. Let's take a big leap forward and encourage each other & I'm beyond eager to hear your feedback!

More inclusivity and awareness of having people with chronic diseases in the workplace

The EU needs to act on making workplaces more inclusive of people with chronic illnesses such as multiple sclerosis.

We have a lot of data with the benefits of having a person with diagnoses as a worker. To have a job is a huge thing for every person, but especially for a person who is facing some diagnosis. 2024 is a crucial year in terms of improve the level of education, to improve the situation with the awareness about diseases, in this case, multiple sclerosis. Are there projects already on this topic? Yes, but I want to see a project on an EU level where each country can benefit from the project, to have the same awareness level and knowledge as in Belgium and Croatia. Some improvements have already been made, but there is a need for more, where people with chronic illnesses can advocate for our disease and our needs.

Include Patients' Voices in Research

The inclusion of patients' voices in research is a vital step towards achieving a more patient-centered approach to healthcare. By actively involving patients in the research process, we can gain valuable insights and perspectives that enrich our understanding of healthcare issues, treatment outcomes, and quality of care. This idea aims to promote patient engagement in research and foster collaborative partnerships between researchers and patients. Patient engagement ensures a holistic understanding of healthcare issues, aligning research objectives with patient needs and priorities. In addition, patients' input refines methodologies, resulting in patient-centered and culturally sensitive research designs. Let's come together and advocate for a more inclusive research environment that actively involves patients.

Young people shouldn’t be forced to work for free: ban unpaid internships!

A large share of young people see themselves forced to work for free in their first professional experiences. Sometimes, unpaid internships are the first opportunities we embark on to start gaining experience. While internships are useful to acquire experience in our first steps, being an unpaid trainee should be forbidden across the EU. Only those who can afford to work for free (due to family support or larger economic capacity) will be able to access those professional opportunities, fostering inequality and social injustice. Therefore, in order to guarantee equality of opportunity and protect youth rights, all unpaid internships should be banned.
